Did you know? Any Albatross Member of an InterNations Group can post an event in it (except Global Groups).
But how can you make that event a success? One that members won’t want to miss? Here are our top tips:
Know the guidelines
Make sure your event follows the In-Person Event Guidelines and that there isn’t another activity already posted in the group for the same date.
Choose the right venue
Avoid venues that require an exact number of attendees and/or prepaid deposits. Check out our article on picking a good activity location for more specific tips on this topic.
Keep your activity exclusive
All members can see InterNations Activities in the events calendar, but only Albatross Members can sign up for them. Avoid people showing up unannounced by not including the venue name or location in your title or cover image.
Give it a short & catchy title
The name you give your activity should be concise but also engaging, e.g., Let’s Have Some Fun at the Fair or Be Your Own Monet! Painting Made Easy.
And remember not to include the word “InterNations” in it.
Think mobile & use all the fields
Most members use their phones to browse the events calendar and find the info they need. When creating your activity, use the dedicated fields for adding the date, time, location, etc.
That way, you can keep your description short, engaging, and to the point.
Choose a high-quality picture
The cover photo is the first thing members see when they receive an invitation to an activity. Make sure it’s high quality and shows what your event will be about. Keep it looking clean and professional by not adding any text to it and avoid cartoons/collages.
Not sure where to find the right photo? Why not search for free images on www.unsplash.com, www.pexels.com, or www.pixabay.com. Just make sure they don’t show any recognizable people or trademarks.
It’s ideal to choose a square-shaped photo, as otherwise it will be cropped. Double-check that the final image looks good.
Expect no-shows
Remember that sign-ups are an expression of interest in your event. You can expect that, on average, 30 to 50% of the people who sign up for your event will actually attend.
Stay in touch
Use the activity wall to ask members to confirm their attendance. Afterwards, thank them all for coming. This personal, welcoming approach can benefit your activities.
